Oh No your thinking not another goodbye thread.

Actually I'm sad to go, but I thought I'd post as a warning to all
you guys.

I sent my N900 back to Nokia UK for repair as I suffered the..

"all telephony functions ... are disabled due to a communication error" + SIM card icon with red line through it.

Got my delivery today from Nokia, opened the parcel..... They have sent me a brand new N8

On the repair note it euphemistically says "BOARD SWAPPED" yes board swapped, that's more than a board Nokia!

My guess is the N900 is no longer supported, rather than try and fix it they send people back an N8 and hope they go away.

To be honest I don't know if I can be bothered trying to fight Nokia over this.

Sell the N8, you'll get more than enough to pick up a new or used N900

You might be able to profit off of sending them broken n900s if you buy them cheap enough

That's not good

My screen is starting to play up again, and last time I had to send it off for repair.

If it were me I'd fight it, maybe the engineer just thought you'd prefer an N8; but by selling it you could get a new N900 and have some change.

Had my board swapped 8 days ago and it was a new N900. Call them and complain, it is clearly a mistake.
