as regards @geojoking's list above, The only other thing I can see that is missing is that the message after checkin should also include the information that "you are x days away from being Mayor .

Sounds like another character encoding problem.
Did you use version 0.0.1-5?

I also saw the icon when I downloaded it but it doesn't show up when installed even after a reboot!
I'm a big FourSquare junkie and I was starting to really feel like the N900 was going to limit/eliminate my FS options. BarrioSquare (as pretty as it is) is laggy and requires constant manually refresh commands. Cotchin is a web service that can go away at any moment.
But FourCircle is great! It's fast, simple, fast, easy, and Fast!!!
Even modified the .desktop file to point to an standard FourSquare app icon to bring the feel of finally having a great FourSquare app on my N900!
