I did not see the live streams but from what I gather from this thread, Twitter and some news sites it seems that I did not miss much. All about MeeGo is again a good source for information.

Rather disappointing from the end user point of view, really. Developers seem to get more out of certain lectures.

Question for conference attendees with time on their hands:

If you run into a Nokian ask them what relation the Nokia harmattan device has to project Bretzn. Will they use it for app-distribution on the n9/n950, or it is something only for core MeeGo?

All IMO. Yesterday was the main conference kick off and key note. The message coming out was that MeeGo is (still) a future OS. To help fill the void of actual MeeGo news a large part of the keynote focused on the advantages and continued advances of Linux into the mobile space. The insinuation being that Android would therefore be the platform of choice for 'now', which annoyed a few people. Some disappointed that few if any new devices were on show, still a reliance on WeTab from 2010. From Dawn's "State of the Community" talk there are no major mainstream high volume devices with MeeGo pre-installed currently available, we'll have to await any announcements from them if any should arrive in the future. Leaving a few devs curious whether MeeGo today is a platform worth developing for.

After the main speeches you get the sessions - these are talks and mini showcases from independent software houses and developers - and then things pick up as you remember why you were interested in MeeGo in the first place. This is the real conference for me, and these talks are always great for learning new tricks and getting new ideas. Qt continues to shine going from strength to strength, with new libraries, resources, etc recently announced. Community projects show up their 'professional' counterparts with their progress and ingenuity on relatively modest budgets. The community is it's strengfh, without the community MeeGo would have nothing.

It's hard to disguise there's a lot of gloom after the opening of the conference. Eldar has already gleefully tweeted this morning that "MeeGo is dead". Personally, I feel it's on life support. Without Intel's determination the plug would have already been pulled on it. Since Elopaclypse it seems all the momentum has been backwards. The keynote painfully highlighted that not much has happened since the conference last year. You have to say things would have looked a lot better had Nokia stayed on course, on the other hand you can kinda see what Elop was thinking when he jumped ship to MS WP.

Today is the WP Mango preview, and rumoured release of the Mango SDK. So anything MeeGo needed announced to the tech blogs and mainstream press had to have been done yesterday for maximum effect. Which makes me think there'll be very little announced for the rest of the conference. But we can hope, and whatever happens do still tune in for the sessions, they are great

The phase MeeGo has been moving is very very slow and listening the keynote that got very little of any content i'm starting to see why Nokia leaving MeeGo would have made sense. I don't think many believed MeeGo could be next Android, still a contender, but now it's more about trying to stay alive.

The drive that WP is being pushed looks totally different no matter what you might think about MS or the OS.

You have that the other way around.

Meego is going slowly because Nokia screwed up the partnership.

Also, we can't really know fast Meego is advancing -- Meego is not intended to run on the N900 or on any Nokia hardware.

Meego is meant for Intel's phone platform, and that will not be released to consumers until 2012 at least.

Random comment: the glass elevator in that Hyatt's lobby is the exact same one used in 'The Towering Inferno'. They filmed it for some interior shots before the fire breaks out. It's still there! (kind of awesome)

He says that some of the delayes where because of Nokia left so that doesn't have anything to do with what i said.
I was talking about why Nokia left, not why Intel is angry after Nokia left.
Looking all this back i wonder how things would have gone if Nokia would have just been all about Harmattan.

Exactly! And thinking about this makes me feel very thankful towards Intel. In the current situation there is still a little chance to get a Device after Harmattan that fits my needs... without MeeGo the Harmattan Device would simply get the last Handset after Nokia has closed the door. Finish.
