nokia phones is still the best for me and it's painful seeing them being so lost after years of being the no. 1 manufacturer. the company is still living in the old days that it doesn't know what to do now in the present...
the confusing decisions / plans of nokia by pursuing something then going to be late then being cancelled then not really then slowly killing the favorite child is not helping them...
with the competition today and of all os available, choosing "windows mobile" is a very bad move thanks to it's bad reputation. the os itself is being hunted by its past to the point that's it's having a hard time redeeming itself now. kinda makes sense that the no. 1 manufacturer is choosing the no. 1 mobile os in the early years and both having issues of keeping up in the game now...
the competition keeps on releasing products as early as every two months while nokia still releases products 6-8 months after announcement. this way, they'll never gonna catch up in the race. with that large gap from announcement and release, the product feels old...

Seriously, if you believe that Nokia/WP will fail you simply have no idea. All operators will love a third major contender. And Nokia/WP will be loved by the people.
Why? Nobody cares about WP. Nokia WP phone will be more of the same in a bit different packaging. Only real difference is the Nokia logo. Even that has gone through serious devaluation during the past 12 months.
Not if Ahonen is right and the carriers are boycotting Nokia phones. If they actually are, they won't let the first Nokia WP7 device be a hit so Nokia is already dead (unless the Board kicks Elop today, not tomorrow).
What will control the market is end user not carriers, they have no choice but to listen to there own customers.
This community does not seem to support Microsoft or its products it appears but the rest of the world does thats for sure so anything you read on here will be not the case i feel.

I am afraid that history directly contradicts you. Carriers have always shown a notorious disregard for the needs and opinions of their customers and I don't see that somehow changing.
Think about n-gage, Wi-Fi, voIP, dual SIM and particularly about who it was that kicked Nokia out of the US market some years ago (yes, the carriers).

In the mobile world Apple may well be bigger than MS but i think the gap will close if MS have anything to do with it, Nokia can still be classed as the biggest mobile hardware producer this world has so you team that with the biggest software company this world has and something has to happen, wow you do not like MS do you but i agree with your points mostly.

Why don't you wait and see what happens before you finalise your decision to break away from Nokia?.
Look at the situation Nokia were in from say 97 on and it was a downward turn so they were in deep water whatever they did due to bad software design mostly i might add, wait and see what becomes of the merger as i think we will all get a pleasent shock i hope .
