There are two 3rd party apps: FM radio by Martin Grimme and C FM - that provide FM signal receiving and potentially play the received signal in stereo, as long as it's strong enough. But enough is not enough for me, as stereo playback is a matter of life and "deaf" for me. When I tune into a station with clear reception I hear stereo OK. Right after I switch to a frequency with weak reception, I can hear it stereo for just a flash of a second then it goes back to mono. I want it to play in stereo all the time, no matter how bad is the reception and not for a flash of second. I have no problem to hear an extra wide-static noise - a reasonable price for I'd willingly sacrifice. In Qt mobile there is an X-terminal method ctrl+D should force stereo. Can the FM radio application be optimized in a similar way?

I agree that a manual "force mono / stereo" option would be quite useful if its technically possible. It can be also annoying when it is switching all the time between mono and stereo.

It's annoying especially when traveling and always in a move - signal changes within every step. When you stay in a certain area, there are always stations you receive better and others you receive worse. Switching from a strong signal to a weaker one will let you hear it in stereo, however just for a second. I need it to last longer...
