That's interesting coz if you check out my hands on video at around 9:50, we pulled the sim card holder out and although it wasn't well focused, I can see that it wasn't a full SIM sized holder.

I read somewhere that some prototypes do have fullsim but the one in stores will be with microsim

if the n9 or another "fully open" phone didn't come out I would probably use my n900 till the day it died on me. I will take community support over corporate support any day.

Two sample photos taken with N9. They seem pretty nice i'd say.

I have no idea how to gauge that. How does that compare against other devices and news on that site? How does this translate to positive opinions/feedback versus people who are just stopping in to look, talk but aren't interested in getting one versus the ones that are getting one? Is there any way to parse that information? Otherwise, that stat might not mean anything at all.

I suspect you'll get some of the same reaction I did to the 'I want a desktop experience' where they point out that you're just stuck in old ways. :P heh Some people don't understand that a desktop experience is a UI that works pretty well--even on a small screen. Especially at these high resolutions. Especially if you're using a high resolution pointer like a bluetooth mouse or a resistive touchscreen stylus. :P

I'm not saying they couldn't implement the same functionality for a capacitive touchscreen stylus-less device--but I am saying that they're cutting their own nose off to spite their face in this pissing contest with Apple and Android and losing sight of the highly portable advanced tablets/computing devices... seemingly intentionally, especially under Elop the Flop.

I have wondered this myself before. Both IOS and Android are proud of the system search and talk about it likes it's a big thing, but on my GS, iphone 4 and ipad 2 i have never used or probably will use it. Do some people actually use that search to get to certain app or bookmark?
I've maybe used it all of two or three times on ANY of my devices in all this time. I MIGHT see it being handy if they ever get voice commands to also act as a launcher to launch apps (then you could say 'run plants versus zombies' to have it run the app for me via "search".. but as it is, I've almost never used it to even go to the web.. i.e. "go to netflix" to automatically go to the Netflix website, which it does well but I just prefer tapping the bookmark).

OK, completely off the rails here but... God! EVERY time I see that guy's face and his smile, I can't resist the distrustful, weaselly image of a demon child with a sh*t eating grin. >.< And it's not JUST because of what he's done... he just has an incredibly bad image problem here.

It does look like it was thoughtfully designed although you can't please everyone. Slightly old HW but with age perhaps less buggy. No HWKB but maybe with BT or some other approach it could be something like a dockable unit in a wallet. Open up the wallet and you find a keyboard inside so you can happily type away, then take out the N9 from the wallet and it's like a phone/tablet. That works for me. There is some interest in easy Debian which would dramatically enhance its utility for me although I do not know if any of the Debian programs are compiled for this chipset. But that would come if there is interest. The N9 is still green and offers many challenges and opportunities for developers so I can see how they could be excited about it (plus the option to get the HWKB version for developers which makes me envious as I am not a developer even though I help design codes that run on supercomputers, Oh the irony of it all. To have such computing power yet be forsaken by ones true love! Just kidding. A little levity to ease the pain... ) Then there is the issue of future support from NOKIA which is rightfully in question. Well, alot can happen between now and September when the device, as I understand, is to be released to the public. Perhaps that is the good news as we can see how things shake out before making a purchase. Hopefully there will not be a lot more bad news...
I would actually agree with your sentiments, all support being equal between handsets. But they aren't. The N9 would still be a very purchasable device if you knew there would be accessories available to make it fit more use cases. A foldable bluetooth or connected keyboard that could double as a screen protector (ala the Pandora) would actually make this FAR more useful for more people, I suspect, while also protecting the screen from unintended proximity "double taps" near the skin and other things I'm sure we'll see happening in the real world. (I still prefer slider to unlock... I see double-tapping a screen to unlock as a mistake.) Oh well.

Support is only useful for the short term anyway, people upgrade at the least every 24 months (two years). I think we'll probably get at least a whole year of "support" for the N9, if not more as they are unlikely to release another MeeGo product until Windows Phone is stabalised in the market.
Actually, he can given the CEO has pretty much all but said those exact words. :P Support is useful for anybody that runs into problems--that's why you have it. Apparently, you like being locked into buying a new something whenever something breaks, then. You'll be a GREAT customer once they go Windows Phone 7. Nice consumer, good consumer. Roll over. BEG! Good boy

The only universal search function I've ever gotten a lot of mileage out of is Palm's, and that's because of the built-in-keyboard and scope of the search. None of the other OS's can match it as yet.

Forgot all about it, but writing on it now the clunkyness is incredible. Safe to say there has been development during the last 4 years
