I can use a transparent 64x64 .png graphic for the calendar so all it will do is display the text and numbers without a background image.

The problem is that it rotates the output by like 5 degrees or so and also stacks the year, month and date alltogether.

I would want it to only display the xmms title, in a straight line, and to change it whenever a new track is being played.

This is probably way too far beyond my understanding.

So when I get a notification of a new email using the stock, Communication, E-mail app, is there a way to play a custom sound?

Control panel, Sounds, Ringtones doesn't affect this feature, only with incoming calls.

Find the file in /usr/share/sounds/, back it up and give a new sound its name. Or dig around in gconf editor and see if the file can be changed there.

Okay. I'll back that folder up, play all the sounds and find what file it is using.

    Thanks A!

    Joy!

    It's called /usr/share/sounds/ui-new_email.wav

    Thanks A! You rock!

Well, I found out that you can change a new email notification to a simple sound.

I'm currently using this and it's kinda nice actually.
    http://mywebpages.comcast.net/jdesho...s/jad0022a.wav

If you play the file naturally, you get only one sound, just the way it was made.

But using it to play when a new email arrives on the tablet, it plays it twice as well as faster.

Meaning, using a musical/song ringtone will play like utter garbage.

    Any trick around this?

I doubt it but thought to ask anyway.

Yeah, it doesn't seem to play that sound file with any kind of consistent speed, plus it double plays it weird, so no music I guess.

What I have now though still sounds pretty good, so no complaints.

Hey, I've renamed ui-window_close.wav and ui-window_open.wav so it won't play any sounds when opening and closing windows yet I'm still hearing them.

Is there some kind of apt cache sounds command that I should run?

Could someone, please, please help me on this?

After this, I promise to stop asking all sorts of stupid questions.

I registered for a free sip account on this site.

The only good instructions on how to use a SIP account on the tablet I got from this thread.
    http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=30349

    His link is now dead.

I seriously have no clue how to set any of this up so that I can finally go back to making and receiving free phone calls after Gizmo died.

    Pwease?

Control panel -> Accounts -> New -> Next -> Service: SIP, Next -> enter the username, server and secret provided by simonics, Advanced -> Set the keep-alive frequency to something sensible, OK -> Next -> enter something memorable to help you identify the account -> Next -> Finish.

    Yep!

I once again have the green presence light so I think all is good after creating a new account.

So just one last thing on this. What is my callback number that I use for Dial Central?

With Gizmo, it gave me a new number like 1 (747) 485-5555.

With these guys, I don't think they gave me anything.
