Actually there is a command, gconftool-2 which actually pulls your active desktop.
the only problem is it just lists the wallpaper and not the screenshot
However i found something online from a N900 dev(?) who created a qt file which can take a screenshot of current desktop using gconftool and screencapture-tool (a tool which we have to install)
You can use this to pull a screen shot and save it in theme folder with the file name in .ini file.

I was analyzing it yesterday. I will see if i can pull something out of it. Am a learning dev too. So it will take some time.

Hi..
My new lockscreen. I call it the temptation. And you will know it why looking at the pictures.
This uses press to unlock feature rather than slide to unlock.
Basically the total image works as a lockscreen rather than a small icon.
The loading process is similar

copy the font chops.ttf to /usr/share/fonts
copy the folder temptations to /opt/qtlockscreen/
copy the .ini file to /home/user/.config/sakya/

Attached is the screenshot.

If you want a much brighter backgrnd, edit the .ini file and change the backgrnd image to menu_bw1.

One problem i faced was, eventhough i am using new font here, it somehow seems to pic default font as you can see in the screenshots. Tried a couple of fonts and both didnot work
See if you are facing the same issue.
If not i will try to see if some other font is causing the issue.

Suggestion: if all the Icons are here on the top, how do you know if you have received a new sms or IM for example? I suggest them (new notifications) to be highlighted for example in red or blue or whatever!!!

I'm planning on putting the number of notifications for each item. So depending on each notification they'll appear on top as you will get notification.

Ex: If you have 3 sms messages and 2 emails, you'll have just those two icons with the number of emails and text messages.
