How about this??

You may be interested in trevarthan's Kagu media player. It's basically UKMP + A2DP support + some other experiments in future (e.g. inertial scrolling)

I had the fork of UKMP from the above site (now called Kagu) and A2DP (aslo from the above site) working in 3.2007 with Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970 stereo headphones - and it worked surprisingly well! There were some problems (delays) moving from one track to another, and it takes a bit of effort to get setup but once working the sound quality was on a par with my Sony Ericsson W950i Walkman phone.

Hello, I'm the original author of the Kagu Media Player. As milhouse mentioned, AVRCP commands can be quite slow. I'm aware of the problem and very interested in getting it fixed, but I'm not sure why it's happening. I've added this request to our Things To Do (TTD) list: https://www.guardiani.us/projects/kagu/changeset/217

However, A2DP playback and volume control work very well and have been stable in Kagu for weeks now. I use A2DP on a regular basis with my Motorola s9 headset.

Also, I'd like to note that Kagu is no longer a one-man project. An excellent fellow going by the nickname 'disq' is now actively helping me develop Kagu. He has already written a nice .deb build system for us, knocked out a number of items on our TTD list that I haven't had time to handle, given us a nice Kagu icon, contributed many excellent ideas, and motivated us to nail down a release schedule. Needless to say, I'm thrilled to have him aboard the project.

With disq's help, I'm fairly confident that we'll have a 1.0 release in under a week's time. So... if you're interested in an excellent music player with A2DP support on the n800 (and maybe the 770?), look no further than Kagu. I'm confident you won't be disappointed.

Once we have a 1.0 release, the biggest thing non-programmers can do for us would be to get out gimp or photoshop and make some new themes. Our theme engine won't be 100% complete with 1.0 release (missing easy theme switching and other user features), but most of the important stuff for theme development is in there already. We're interested in helping out anyone who wants to create new themes. The default 1.0 release theme will be less than ideal as I personally have very little graphical talent and I "stole" most of the current theme elements from an older version of UKMP. (UKMP has since gotten a make-over and looks much better than Kagu right now)

If anyone is interested in helping out with theme creation, please contact us on IRC via the FreeNode #maemo channel, or email me directly at jesse@guardiani.us.

Wow, great news trevarthan! I've been wanting to try your player, but I have been leery of getting into all the terminal commands. A one click install would be great...

Thanks for all the work on this project...A2DP support on the N800 is *long* overdue, glad to see it is becoming a reality. Some quick questions: how is the CPU and battery usage with Kagu, and will I still be able to multitask without any problem? Also, does the A2DP streaming interfere with WiFi at all? I know when I stream audio over WiFi thru A2DP on my WinMo devices, they seem to choke quite a bit - very choppy.

Thanks again!
