I find this too with the legit charger, its fine,
with a cheap Chinese crap I have to plug it in then out then back in, usually works after that, if not I have to repeat it.

I have the following strange problem. My beloved N900 does not charge the battery anymore when it is turned on.
I have two different car chargers, two different chargers at home from other phones (full 220 volt outlet) and the N900 will NOT charge if its on. If I turn it off it seems to work.
Strange enough withthe orignial charger from nokia in the office works.
I think I installed an update of power kernel or something around the time when this stated to happen.
Any idea?
