    maemeemo
    E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

i also try to : apt-get install --reinstall maemeemo

but also i have the same problem
you can try executing below commands:

    root
    vi /var/lib/dpkg/info/maemeemo.postrm

    then remove last line. i.e.,

    dbus-send --type=method_call --dest=org.freedesktop.Notifications /org/freedesktop/Notifications org.freedesktop.Notifications.SystemNoteDialog string:"Note that you need to manually restore the original transitions.ini" uint32:0 string:"OK"

    save it

    then run:

    apt-get purge maemeemo

then follow this before you switch off N900 (Very Important): http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=264

then restart N900 and install maemeemo again.

The "very important step" may not be needed with 1.3.0-3
the portrait wallpapers is set when you set a wpaper being in the portrait mode, i think but snot sure.
