this program is interfering with call application (when you put the phone near your ear and proximity turn screen of then yo move away and screen is on and also the timenow).maybe it should check if phone app is active or screen is not really lock.have to uninstall until there is a fix for this.

I will investigate the said bug, in fact I know how to solve it, the font unfortunately cannot be changed unless somebody writes a c function that prints nice fonts on the linux framebuffer.

    Fantastic and very nice application!!
.... but i have to confirm the bug after a call and a BRUTAL battery drain with this application enabled. (you can check the cpu time of the timenow service, ...yes.. it's the greater..)

Is there a way to reduce the energy consumption optimizing the polling frequency?

Actually, that's possible. Create image with ImageMagick, then write it to /dev/fb0. Unfortunately, ImageMagick can't read/create rgb565, but it's not hard to convert rgb888 to rgb565 in C.

@xes, I will use proximityd which is proven to poll the proximity sensor without draining the battery very much.

@hxka, I have tried to do that but I have failed, and I suspect that that will drain the battery even more, so I'm not interested in trying again

For now a new version should reach devel in a while, which adds date and hopefully solves the phone application bug.

Please, may reupload again version 0.0.2 to the repositories (or post here), an error occurred, and can not be updated.

    Regards.

    What is the error?

Usually if my apt-get says some package is being kept-back (cannot update) then I can just issue
    <sudo> apt-get install --reinstall <package_name>

then it will get update just fine.
