If everything fails then make a external charger like mine....

Only problem i have is that my N900 needs to be connected to internet or it will not use GPS?, no problem normally but i used all my data and it costs me $ now if i need to use it....

I believe all of them are made in china

Finally found one CHEAP USB car charger that can charge the N9 (probably same for N900, not going dig it out to try) AND keep the GPS, T-Mobile white usb car charger for HTC MyTouch $2.75 shipped from Amazon (1000mA)

[edit: removed some detail that might only apply to N9]

Without the network, you can't use A-GPS, but you can still use GPS but it will take 2 minutes or more to get the first fix. Of course, make sure you have preloaded the map or you won't see anything on the map.
I've done that on 5800XM (symbian), N900 and N9 when I travelled overseas without data plan.
You can't do any search on N900 which has to connect to the server (I think limited POI search can be done on N9)

I was trying to use jspeed to calibrate my Electro Ciao (to keep speed within legal limits for mopeds here in DK), so i had to turn on data, but of course it did not need to download much, just ignoring to look at that blinking GPS icon and think something is wrong (this is on my other N900)

I use Jspeed & Modrana regularly on drives without a data connection. It takes up to 5 minutes to get a GPS lock, but after that is solid for a long time.
