Music controls in the home screen are unfortunately denied by the D-Bus policy to everyone except the internal music player. With inception it should be possible to modify the policy I guess.

Also, is it possible to display your music collection as in your file structure?

I'm going to second this, I'll spell it out a bit more:

Compilations are handled poorly by the default music player. In a good setup, the artist view is typically sorted by the "Album Artist" tag. However, in the Harmattan app it's sorted by "Artist". This can be an issue with dealing with compilations, as they typically have multiple "Artist" tags within the same album and only one "Album Artist". Rather than finding the album in question underneath the album artist's name, you find individual tracks scattered all over the place. This means you see the same cover art a zillion times when scrolling, and adds a whole lot of unnecessary entries to the list. I avoid Artist View specifically for this reason.

Also seconding gapless playback (most of my compilations are DJ mixes that would greatly benefit from gapless), however I'm guessing that because QuasarMX didn't support gapless there's an issue with the media framework underneath the app.

In any chance this would be the perfect N9 analog of Open Media Player currently developed for N900. Sweet.
