How is it with snakes, spiders and other **** in Vancouver. We are lucky that we aren't aussies lots of dangerous **** over there

Snakes?...naw nothing really on island. Spiders ...we have a couple varieties that are nasty...but it isn't common to run into them.
Porcupine...none on island.
Skunk ...none on island.
Rabbit are plentiful in sub and urban areas.
Bear..on the island ...black are plentiful...on the continent grizz ...and on kodiak island to the north of me..the biggest bears live.
Mountain lion on the continent.
Cougars on the island.
But bear and cougar tend to stay waaaayyyy in-island up in the mountains.
Mosquitoes don't care for the ocean air near the coast (salt air desiccates their wings ....dries 'em out) ...further in-island they become more plentiful along with deer flies horse flies and blackflies...but going in-island means going "up" so ....quickly ...altitude means you lose them thankfully.
we have wolf on the other side of the island...we have moose here...we have elk here and we have deer here...hell we have "city deer" ....deer that has for generations now been living in town...they have no fear...are a danger to vehicular traffic (even though I have seen them use cross-walks ...not kidding...very weird) ..they don't mind people walking past them...they have a curiosity of cats...and don't seem terribly frightened of dogs...going for a walk in my city-out-lying-neighbourhood...you'll pass at any given time 'tween 12 and 30 deer...just in a few miles...they have no predator (can't hunt or trap them in town which means they have diplomatic immunity )) except getting hit by traffic late at nite...which is rare...they have over-pop'd the area...all the good gardens around helped...the climate helps too...consequently they are tiny deer ...as big as a saint bernard...perhap a wee bit bigger.
Eventually they will graze all the avail. food and start starving, or they will start getting sick with diseases ...it is a prominent issue we are trying to figure out ....the 3 worst issues pertaining to them are....
1- traffic accidents...early morn and dusk ..and at nite...they are a REAL road hazard.
2- deer, elk and moose carry ticks...so pets or people walking paths or areas frequented by deer can pick them up...unless proper clothing is worn. (mind..only a fool goes walking and hiking the trails in shorts) doesn't help pets though.
3- sooner or later someone, a man woman or child is going to get stomped by a deer and possibly killed...during rutting or foaling season...it's happened before....just not here...yet. Deer are great...lovely animals..(taste good too)....but are a hazard in urban areas...they eat gardens...so 8+ft fencing is required...all around they belong away from inhabited areas.
otherwise the island is pretty safe.

I fear daily death or pain and injury from... getting in a car crash, hit as a pedestrian, hitting a deer, getting trampled and stomped by a deer, getting mugged or stabbed....farrrrrr more than a snake / bug bite....lion, cougar or bear.

Honestly guys...there is more to fear in cities than out of them.
I would rather die by my own actions / stupidity out in the bush...on my own terms ...in my own way...
than to die far too easily... and most likely...by the stupidity and ignorant distraction of some texting-while-driving idiot in town.

I don't know. If I had to pick it might be better being killed immediately by a texting and driving idiot then being shredded to pieces by an angry bear.

Beer behind the wheel or bear behind the tree doesent matter. You are still dead and that sucks.

Bears eat rabbits, deer and elk, right? I'm not sure but somehow I don't think those use much shampoo and soap.

Bears loves Salmon since they are so fresh and clean

bear eat all those guys? naw ...not usually... only if no other option...most predators try to stay away from animals that can fight back...deer and elk stomp and have antlers...nasty woundage....bears tend to stick to fish, berries and nuts.
cougars tend to hunt smaller animals, weaker or old ones too...and will go after the odd deer.
even wolves ...it is rare for them to go after deer...mainly their diet is smaller animals...mice, rabbit, pea-hen, pheasant...grouse whatever you want to call it.
Hell even rabbit can be nasty...they can give a wicked lil' bite...and their hind legs with their nails can tear ...(worst case ...even disembowel) your dog..
same goes for racoon...they'll tear apart a cat if they think they can get away with it...and really mess up your dog.
Gotta have a savvy, smart and quick dog.... if you take 'em out with you.
Not everything is just "helpless prey"....don't for a sec think that predators or humans can just interact with prey without consequence...they got their own defenses...
Intelligently and soberly respecting pretty much every animal around you is a sound approach. And if you have to fight something off...usually it is just posturing with them...so what is needed to inform any animal ...essentially....you don't put up with no ***** and wish to be left alone...hence the whole "looking bigger than the other guy thing" with most animals.

I dunno. During those few seconds I'm being shredded apart by a grizzly I might have a flashback to the time I first heard that Elop had cancelled the N950. It would be unbearable...
