the solio classic (3 petal) solar is great.
(got one)
the powermonkey is great and more slim than the solio classic
(got one)
the powergorilla is by far the beast of beasts...(big though) and meant for charging laptops (and devices all the way down to smartphones and cameras etc) but the powergorilla isn't cheap (and rightfully so)

crank chargers...possibly even pedal ...need good regulation of the charge going to the device....(I am POSITIVE someone here has done pedal charging for the n900...and I KNOW I read it somewhere around here...)..that is really the thing...
with crank...(not sure about pedal...) that I used to use (not for a smartphone...didn't trust the charge delivery being consistent..perhaps things have changed in the new crank chargers) you had to consistently crank at the same speed to get the charge proper...
