Suspect they are very small and lives in the ice planets or moons.
Extremophiles are often used as an example of how life can evolve in a seemingly hostile environment. They are a living example of how life could exist on icy planets or deep under Martian soil, they say.
I remain to be convinced. Evolving in a balmy tropical lagoon and slowly acquiring resistance to increasingly less and less favourable conditions at the fringe is not quite the same as evolving in the extreme conditions to start with.
Too long, too slow, too much focus on individuals and not politics and change. I don't find it that entertaining.
