I guess noone got any objections regarding the name but rather how other moons are treated. To me Europa is cooler than our rock so I think we should change our moon name to the rock. That would be fair to every other moon.

Luna is word for moon. Not a name for a specific moon. What about m00n? That would be pretty much unique among its kind and fair to the rest of the moons as well.

Not quite right there. Luna refers to our Moon. If you are not sure which one I mean, it's the one that's about a quarter million miles from the Earth.

Good. Then I think you solved the issue. Excellent!

The questions is how we can announce this change to the world.

Right again, Maybe we could learn something from this story: http://www.ancient-code.com/the-moon...lands-is-fake/

We plant the name here and there and let the world find out for itself.

On a more interesting note it would be interesting to see how many people is needed to be able to change a commonly used name to a new one.

What if we hired 300 journalists to pump out articles, books, documentary and let them work for a year. Would that be enough to swing the tide in favor of Luna?

    Not really.
    The coldest temperature on the Moon: 26 K (−247 °C; −413 °F)
    The coldest temperature on Europa: 50 K (−220 °C; −370 °F)
