For sake of completeness (HtheB heard it already on IRC):

Thing with "Samsung" on it is OneNAND. OMAP (CPU etc.) is under it, between OneNAND and PCB. On the other side of N900, we have chip with "toshiba" on it - it's 32 GB eMMC.

In other words: If I replace OneNAND with an 1GB one, I'll be done, right?

The chip is 256MB OneNand plus 256MB DDR ram.
The chip is a Samsung but I suppose that one of these Micron chips is similar if not the same:

168 pin: http://www.google.it/url?sa=t&rct=j&...NPkIZA&cad=rja
He wants 1024MB ram (supposing Omap 3430 can support it), so you need a chip with 1024MB and at least 256MB OneNand (but bigger is better).
I know a company (Microsemi) which produces PoP chip for Omap with 1GB ram + 2GB flash or 2GB ram + 4GB flash.
But I don't know if these models are compatible with Omap 3430
