I have the old 2006 os version, and i cant update it with nokia updater. I tried it on four computers. It couldnt connect to the internet when i was on it, it said i didnt have the right time on my computer and i did, and on another computer it said i tried too many times so it kicked me off. I tried it manually from the maemo website nokia gave me and it said it wasnt compatible with my device. I tried it on xp and vista. What can i do?

This is definitely a N800 and not the older 770 model? (the N800 is silverish and has a built in stand, the 770 is primarily black plastic with a metal slip cover?)

You can get the latest firmware image for the N800 here:

http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/nokia_N800.php

You will need to type in your WLAN Mac address, which can be found on a sticker in the battery compartment or in the control panel under about. You need to type it in as strickly alpha-numeric (letters and numbers) without typing in the : or - that are typically used to seperate Mac address character groups.

Once you have downloaded the firmware, use the N800 software updater from here:

http://nds1.nokia.com/files/support/...ate_Wizard.exe

to update your device and point it at the file on your hard drive instead of letting it trying to search for the latest fw online.

Thats the problem, i went to that website and downloaded that image and the nokia updater told me it wasnt capatible with my device. The closest i got to updating it was on my computer at home, which told me i could't connect to the internet although i was on. How can i get the updater to recognize that im on the internet? Or how can i get the updater to recognize the image file? Thanks for the help.

Please verify the MD5 checksum of the file you downloaded. For the latest OS image with filename RX-34_2007SE_4.2007.26-8_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin it should be e6643b4b14698759b5df4fa3a626dfc8

If you are getting something other than that as a result, then you have a corrupted download for some reason. If you don't have a MD5 program currently, the one I use is called DigestIT and is a free download here:

What OSes have you tried flashing the N800 from? How clean are the OS installations? Have you checked for viruses and spyware/malware?

Are you using the current, official utility for flashing the N800 found at http://nds1.nokia.com/files/support/...ate_Wizard.exe
or something else?
