Sigh... what a joke... Jolla, Jolla, Jolla...
I also suspected they were going to shift the goal posts on it being a truly premium end device, to one that's "kinda high-end".
Because I reckon they're using something quite mediocre like the U8500, or the next model up at best (not the topmost one).
And if only finland It may very well be operator locked so no way to import

Don't worry, none of the operators lock phones in Finland anymore. Not even TeliaSonera locks the iStupid.

But what a f! End of the year! So, the Sailfish is not that ready after all... Ubuntu phone vs Jolla? Well.. One good thing. I bought LG Nexux 4Welcome Ubuntu phone OS.

We started the year with Ubuntu not being available till Q1 next year, then they guaranteed by October, Sailfish shifted from Aug. at the latest* to mid-Dec in a few EU countries, & everywhere else (which will be very few -completely Eastern- countries initially) by mid-Q1 2014 >.> And Ubuntu's so uninteresting compared to Sailfish, it's basically just CM with a QML shell**, but they're executing so much better, they're going have a way more vibrant community long before Jolla gets going >.>
*or early Sept, "Summer" is def. no later than that
**there's a bit more to it than that

I also suspected they were going to shift the goal posts on it being a "truly premium device", to one that's "kinda high-end".
Partly because they're probably using something quite mediocre like the U8500, or the next model up at best (not the top-most one*).
With availability not till Dec or later, it's sheer stupidity to continue with their original plans to outline everything about the device within Q1.
If they do that & it doesn't have some very strong specs or at least one or two unique or top-notch hw aspects, then it's a major set-back
Sure the small community that's always rallied around Maemo/MeeGo et al will probably (at least partly) stick by them, but it won't get much wider momentum/appeal.
We'd have to hope that another Sailfish vendor does much better hw-wise, but then they prolly won't have some of the nice sw that Jolla plans to keep exclusive.
And the only vendors we've heard about so far aren't exactly well-known for quality builds, the best they may do is put powerful core components in there, & not value-add much elsewhere.
I pray to God this is a total BS story, & they're just "talking out of their ***" by making-up stuff that was never said...
*then again, being released in Dec+ now means the topmost one is possible, but there's still some Qn over how "truly competitive" that SoC is, esp. in Dec/Jan.
