While i was trying to free rootfs space on my N900,accidently deleted all content of /usr/shar/themes..
now the progress bar,icons and all styles are missing,
it also shows "missing image" on the starup screen...
i tried reinstalling maemo alpha n beta themes by running
apt-get install --reinstall hildon-theme-alpha
still the default theme is not back....
i can use all the function,but evrything looks like the windows claasic style
......

I imagine /etc/hildon/theme symlink got broken when /usr/share/themes was removed. Re-installing the packages will not have restored it. Going to settings and selecting a theme might do the trick.

Got it back
as Marxian said,the symlink to /usr/share/themes/default was broken,
making a new default folder and copying a theme to it solved the issue...
