Glad to hear so many people like it, and that there are other things incoming (thx, niko)!

If anyone figures out how to change the very first NOKIA logo with the little development icon that is shown for a second or so, please post it here too!

I have never seen this image.
Maybe it only appears at a developer edition?

niko: if you have rd-mode enabled, it shows up during bootup.

Perhaps some of these can be rescaled?

The aspect is a tad off, and the resolution is slightly lower, but a lot of these look good.

    Okay, my turn.

Both of these startup screens are actual screen caps of the Hildon GUI, with the central area mocked up with a graphic editor.

The first (and longest on display) has an utilitarian role : it shows a plea with the owner's name, phone number(s) and email, so that (s)he stands a chance in a million (instead of zero) of recovering the 770 in case of loss/theft etc.
Obviously this is just a template and you will have to fill in your personal data using your favourite graphics editor (irfanview, photoshop, the Gimp or Paint :-).

The second can be used as is, it associates Maemo and the "Linux in use" logo of recent Knoppix releases. I find it doubly relevant, as Knoppix allowed me to flash my 770 in RD-mode from my XP box :-)

    Enjoy,

i love the osx backgrounds. right now im rendering a movie for my 770 but when its done ill photoshop the boot images i selected and get them up.

good idea for the "if lost..." background. the next logical progression is to configure an app to "phone home" when it goes online. anyone know where to start for a project like this?

Make a runlevel script that bg's itself and polls a webserver periodically. Use PHP on the webserver to save and analyze location logs. I may give this a whirl if no-one else volounteers

I was thinking 800x480 desktops only.

These are hosted on image shack so I don't know how long they'll last. Get 'em while they're hot. If the links are down pm me your email and I'll send them.

I found most of these images at pixelgirl.com
