Is there anything special needed if I want to connect my Win7 laptop to the internet via N900 (either USB or Bluetooth, don't know which one is better)? Or do I just connect the devices and create a dial-up connection?
I never used it for this purpose (except on Nokia 6310i ten years ago).

install qt mobile hotspot, it can share gprs data via usb (faster and more stable requires you to install win drivers no drivers required in linux) or normal (adhoc) hotspot

Qt Mobile Hotstpot, when you click on the top bar of the app it has a button "USB for Windows Setup" which will guide you through the whole setup. One additional thing I had to do after that was manually configuring my IP address on my Windows XP machine for that USB networking, but I'm not sure if it wasn't my bogus setup's fault.
