As a n8 user I can say that it had the most awsome camera on every other phone I had and the materials that it was made of were really good too! It didn't even have a scratch after so many falls! But having symbian os was the reason I changed it with a n900! After some time there were no newer apps for this awsome phone, and developers/Nokia wasn't interested in a phone like this! This is why after all it "died" together with nokia!

But the N9 has a much lesser camera - that's the main draw of the N8, right?

If memory serves me correctly, that's a dedicated camera without telephony over GSM, right? Either way, that's a damn good camera from what I've read.

Does it have Wi-fi transfers and does that work well?

Aside from the camera, the hardware is like the Galaxy S3. It DOES have a 3G modem, but not for calling though (like a tablet)
OS is Android 4.2

If anyone would buy an N8, it would be for the camera at a bargain price.
