    With any luck, they'll expand on the OH concept that has been languishing in Jolla's hands. I don't myself know exactly why Jolla has decided to stick with one and only one design of phone (although, as I've posited here before, I think it's because Jolla only considers the phone as a way to advertise Sailfish); but the OH is a fascinating way to provide something no other mobile device has succeeded at: expandability.

    As the new spinoff is not Jolla, I'd love to see them experiment with non-Sailfish OH devices (even Android!), in order to get more folks using and creating new other halves. (And, perhaps, even selling OH devices into parts of the world that haven't seen them yet, such as the United States for example. )

    I'd imagine the reference is for the tablet.

    I'd very much like to see that
    The Fairphone seems to me much nicer device than the Intex one, both specswise (which is not that important to me) and ideologically.

    We've not really seen specs of the Intex phone and the models they have on their website seem, to be polite, generic. Unless they pull something new out of the bag, in not interested.

    The Fairphone 2 seems decent enough. Kind of like a two year old flagship phone with more robust exterior. It's almost the same as my Sony Z1. I still dislike the Indiana Jones movie font they use in their logo which has been toned down a bit since their first model. Want you can't see; the ideology behind it is perhaps more important.

    Firstly, sorry about my long rambling. This was supposed to be a short post and continue here the "red thread" .

    But..., was Jolla's main ideology that you can install Sailfish to any Android platform phone?
    Or has this core founding changed?
    Is Sailfish Alliance program taking any wind to sails?

    One year announcement oblivion would been in the Tablet case more viable option imho.
    But I guess it depends of how patient and understanding customers are, but still 1 year of conscious waiting is a long time.
    When arriving from ocean to harbour, there is nearly no hype left .
    Communication with their partners and reserving enough time to subcontracts R&D&S is essential to success.
    This is my opinion from an announcement point of view.

    My "reasonable" hardware expectations for the Jolla 2 are:
    - Nokia N9 like stretched and same screen size as Jolla 1
    (I have trouble to operate Jolla with only one hand)
    - transreflective display
    - USB C-type connector with OTG and MHL
    - same TOH size as I dislike to 3D self-print my TOH collection
    - RAM =>2GB chip if 9 cover multitasking aren't reduced to e.g. 4
    - Internal 16/32/64 GB storage + microSD slot
    - Better camera for low light environment + lighted night video recording
    - 4G LTE or 5G
    - Bluetooth 4.0, Smart profile support from OS
    - Dual NFC support, NFC TOH reader (debit, credit, crypto card)
    - removable battery =>2100 mAh
    - hall sensor
    - No hardware bottlenecks for software (case: browser tabs and OOM)

    As some worrying trending news have been around.
    Before shipping, a company / -ies lowered the amount of RAM in their smart* devices at expense of more CPU clock speed and / or cores.
    Jolla wouldn't dare do such a thing?

    Jolla 2, december 2016 or later.
    Even better, Jolla could jump in to subcontract modular phone manufacturing and do only design, software and marketing.
    Or just plain software.
    You control the specs as it follows Jolla's ideology of openness.
    Like Google project Ara + Jolla detachable TOH.
    That would be very awesome and very unlike! .
