Hi,

/edit: If you're experiencing battery life problems, here's how to check for an unusual standby current consumption.

When I was on vacation in an area with a low GSM signal I used to charge my N900 every night. Even though, it managed to stay up from 7 am to 10 pm without much problem. But the last day, it died after about 4 hours! After a couple full discharge-full charge cycles it went back as normal.

When I was trying to recover some file using photorec, the N900 rebooted (after reboot it discharged very quickly) and since then the problems returned. Now, my N900 is unable to stay 8 hours with medium usage (from time to time WiFi or 3G). From then it had at least 8 full discharge-full charge cycles. It discharges something like 2 times faster than before the vacation.

No remarkable software changes were made in the meantime.

What might be the cause of such rapid change? If it's battery wear, how can I measure if it's really this? Or maybe it's some hw damage?

I am in the same boat, My N9 lasts a long time, My N900 dies so fast, probably battery failure. Get a good brand extended battery not the chinese ones on ebay, theyre terrible.

Check top and powertop for any suspect or leaking services.

Failing that replace the battery for a Polarcell.
Li-ion batteries have a maximum life expectancy of upto 3 years from manufacturer, even less if in hot conditions or deeply discharged.

With "bq27200.sh 5" script you can measure discharge current: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=846.

So it's no use in buying a BL-5J battery, because they'll all be very old, won't they?

Nothing suspicious in top (when terminal at its lowest font size), I'll do a powertop scan.

What's interesting, after the green led indicating full appeared, I disconnected the device and checked the lshal output after a while. Result: ~1000 mAh charged out of ~1290 (reported to be design capacity)

Maybe it's time to callibrate battery and find out real capacity.

You mean by measuring the real capacity with bqCapacity? I didn't explicitly enable the bq27x00 module, so will here be any use of this on stock bme? Is there any advantage of using this module instead of stock bme?

Still on wall charger for 4 more hours, bq27200.sh reports 1089 so there's a progress )

Yes with bqCapacity. You dont need to enable bq2700 module. Just charge and discharge according to tutorial preferably 2 times. For future I recommend use bnf instead of lshal.

Well, I guess that because it only measures the distance, I should leave the phone charging overnight too, so that it charges as much as possible (even though it reports to be fully charged, it still seems to some extent)

/edit: bq27200.sh told it stayed on 1091, so started the calibration.

Well, my phone discharged during the night (<8.5 hours), so I couldn't do the `bq27200.sh 5` step. Is my measure still valid?
