No it doesn't change password instead works as activate button, it just shows 'change'

It seems to work that way for me too ,change and activate do the same function meaning that they open the options to enable or disable private mode.took me a while to get used to it but it does the job , although its confusing
Edit:after rechecking i found out this feature works as it should but my thoughts get confused if i try to explain how o.O 12 hours at work affected my reasoning
-while trying to find our what 11212etc numbers meant i ound out that the desired contacts shortcut in the homescreen can open your private chat window even though that contact isn't visible in whatsup.

I does not automatically turn ON (for any of the methods: shake swipe down or the lock icon)
