Its not the same, Gnu/linux was originally "open", in the sense that there was not one single company that was selling linux. various companys then grew up from it , forking it, shipping a particular version, etc.
Jolla as a company only has "Sailfish", its not as they have said "its crown jewels" its their only jewels. I dont think Jolla as a company is trustworthy. They open it up, bang some one else will fork it, Hello new and better Sailfish - Goodbye Jolla.
Jolla had its stallmen and Torvalds but that boat has already sailed.
I think the tabletgate is going to cost Jolla dearly.

I have the right to complain about how jolla doing business and using the money. I simply do not trust them until they compensate the backers and customers and see no way for them continue to function until this situation is solved.
If jolla asks for money with nothing in return. It's a donation. If you ask for money for something then using stretch goals to get more then...
...waiting for jolla to do the right thing or die trying.

BTW, I have seen a few peeps here who are annoyed at Jolla but all of them gave good reasons as far as I can see. If you decide to be partially blind to anything that does not fit your paradigm then that is your own problem. You blame people like ZogG and prometheus for "spewing vitriol" but you are no better. They at least give reasons for their beliefs and do not turn personal.

I for one do not trust them even if they compensate the backers. The main damage has already been done: they lied to us. Multiple times. Screw the money, screw the tablet. The real loss is the loss of trust. There is no way I am going to believe that someone who has lied to me 3 times is suddenly going to turn around and become all honest the 4th time. I feel sorry for anyone who does.
