To continue, our supplier then had their own issues and had to change factories two times for production, which again affected the schedule. Naturally, project delays also have a severe impact on budgets; it was this cycle of events, which led the project into serious trouble.
I think you're overlooking the statement and timing. If Jolla had paid for those tablets when the original contract/order was placed and had not been delayed, those tablets would still have Sailfish on them, the contract fulfilled on-time and then the rest of your list would not have applied because they would have been in the hands of the backers. ...
I agree with you. I was just trying to say that after the issues fixing it all with just paying the bills might not be enough.
The bigger picture is to consider other options. Nothing in this thread is facts as far as I see it. But I could be wrong.
I'd say that you're arguing against facts. I've personally no time for that when honestly there was a resolution given directly from Jolla.
Refunds, when they could be processed, 600 or so shipped out with Sailfish OS on them. Even though that is not what I wanted to hear, it's definite enough to be the reality we're dealing with.
I'm still waiting on "bigger picture" stuff, not speculation. We can speculate all day, somehow tie in Roswell New Mexico so-called fallen aliens into the mix. But that does not denote a bigger picture.
Before the announcement of refunds. That's all I can confirm. No clue if it were on time or not; but if I were running a business, I'd build the units during a time where I would be either guaranteed or at least promised payment.
And I'd liquidate after confirmation that the order payment was not coming as promised.

I tought we discussed why we ended up here and IF the reason actually was money, or decisions or personal agendas or something else. Not the actual decision to refund and ship 600 tablets
Would love to see some aliens or Area 51 in the mix. I won't deny that.
The fact that there's 2000+ being sold on Taobao, I'd say work was done. That doesn't speak to the quality of aforesaid work. But work was done.
Ok, but it means that they supplier is in no position to throw stones over reliability. At the end of the day, tablets should be for sale in the Jolla store right now, and I haven't heard a good justification for why that isn't the case.
I agree with the explanation for taobao - the unpaid tablets were sold off to a third party for sale on there and cannot be recalled. But we should under no circumstances buy them.
Agreed.
Only a minor detail. I think its possible they did not necessarily need to reflash to android but at some point maybe switched the production line eMMC to android when they still had all the parts for more tablet but no "sailfish customer" to sell to anymore.
Depends on:
a. When did Jolla break the contract.
b. Did maybe even the manufacturer plan to scam jolla with android version all along.
c. How viable is a mass reflash anyway, taking in account stskeeps "warning" it could be difficult?
d. when where those taobao tablets actually produced?
