Nokia N9: up to date developments - maemo.org

Recently I got a Nokia N9 16Gb Cyan. I must say I'm greatly pleased with it. I've never before used or seen one, and it's really a beautiful phone.

Now, I have been looking on the forums and on other sites, but I can't find any "Perfect setup" or updated, comprehensive guide --as the N900 has-- which gives some clue about the state of the affair with the developments after Nokia stopped supporting the platform.

So, I've found Harmattan PR 1.3, Nemo and Sailfish OS to be three alternatives, but can't be too sure about:

- Which is the most community supported.
- Which has the richest applications ecosystem.
- Which is the most every-day usable (Phone, SMS, and web browsing, mostly)

I'm on my way to test another options (currently updated the phone to PR 1.3), but I wanted to know from anyone who has already taken this things in account and wants to share his experience here.

Anyway, I hope this isn't to a cliché of a thread.

Great! Now, any hacking/installation order to recommend?
I've seen that you released an aegis-hack, and there must be some working unofficial repositories as well. The QuickTweak script seems to be pretty extensive in is reach, too. Don't know... what would you do if you had to tune a fresh N9?

Create you own home-brew adblock by modifying your hosts file (/etc/hosts). A list of pages that could be blocked is for example:

http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.txt

So, given the recommendations around here and others I've found, the list of steps I've taken from scratch to usable are:

1- Flashing the firmware and the eMMC with the latest release.
2- Flashing Kernel Plus.
3- SSH (for god sake, it's hell to type on the N9 terminal compared to N900)
4- Using Opptimizer to OC at 1150Mhz
5- Installing FasterN9 unstable.
6- Developer mode tools (Utilities, power analysis and performance)
7- Various hacks recommended by pmeuh
8- Emoji fix and comprehensive hosts file.
9- N9QT (for stuff)

I've yet to solve some problems and there are things I'd like to do (BackupMenu!!), but I like the state in which all these left my phone. Thanks people

Me, I regard the emoticon eating as a feature, not a bug, but it's nice to have a community like this with this level of support for users to get their phone to work the way they need and want.

And not a hack, but for convenience I'd suggest ProfileMatic as nearly indispensable, particularly if you have regular times when you mustn't forget to silence your phone or change other behaviors. Classes, regular meetings with the big boss, religious services, bedtime, uninterrupted concentration hour, etc., etc., etc.

Ok, one last question:

Has any of you tested PowerPack for a while? I've used it (before reflashing twice) but now I'm reluctant to install it, given that there is nothing broken I can tell which needs to be fixed. I want to know if you can say you got some benefit from using it.
