Saloon Nokian tiloissa kännykkätuotantoa käynnistävä firma on kalifornialainen yritys Turing Robotic Industries TRI.

Yhtiön toimitusjohtaja Chao Syl kertoo Kauppalehdelle, että Saloon ei perusteta tytäryhtiö, vaan yhtiön pääkonttori.

Toimitusjohtajan mukaan TRI aloittaa tuotannon Salossa jo huhtikussa.

”Jokaista tuhatta valmistettua puhelinta kohden TRI rekrytoi 10–20 paikallista työntekijää ohjelmiston ja laitteen testaukseen ja kokoamiseen.”

Tämän vuoden aikana yhtiö aikoo tuottaa yli 300 000 puhelinta. Puhelimen päämarkkinat ovat Kiinassa, jossa yhtiö on Chaon mukaan sopinut jo diileistä usean suuren älypuhelinjakelijan kanssa. Jakelusta on sovittu 28 maakuntaan ja suuriin kaupunkeihin.

”Turing-puhelin valmistettaisiin sataprosenttisesti Suomessa.”

Chaon mukaan tietoliikenteen yksityisyyttä varjeleva tietosuojalainsäädäntö Suomessa oli suurin syy TRI:n päätökselle siirtää pääkonttori Suomeen.

Turing HQ will be in Salo (beacuse Finland has strong information security laws). Production starts in April. 10-20 employees/1000 phones. 300 000 phones will be made this year. Main market is China. 100% Finnish made.

In China? that's like a drop in a sea. Also at least they have realistic expectactions, not like someone who aimed to become the third ecosystem with a beta os.

What I mean it's not easy/realistic to create 300000 phones in a year when you still looking for people and still trying to set up shop.

I don't believe this number. Not this year.

How so? If they set up manufacturing line to be operational in April, 300 000 phones shouldn't be a problem if it's not severely undersized in capacity. But it requires capital and personnel, I wonder if they got the money to do it and to keep it running.
