Now I'm actively searching out the best feeds to add to it.
Not only that, but I find the ability to finally be able to stream videos in some capacity on the NIT a welcome functionality. Have you already found some good compatible feeds that work well with it Tony?

It's not a video player. It's more or less a podcatcher for video podcasts, as well as an application to stream internet tv and, in the future stream, recorded tv shows from MythTV.

I've added the xvid small streams for a few of the Revision3 shows such as Diggnation. Just be sure to have mplayer defined as your external player.

I've never really done the whole video podcasting thing before but I sure am loving it. I just hope they eventually add audio podcasts to media player soon too.

If you look in the Rocketboom section, some of those are audio podcasts and it works very well. Any idea if we can add our own feeds of video to the app somewhere? I have quite a few links to video and audio podcasts that I regularly watch on my psp (most ipod m4v videos work with psp) that I'd love to add here too.

I'm not sure what formats are going to work with this thing, but I'm going to do some more experimenting. I've noticed that the files I downloaded for Geekbrief were all avi files, and since the show itself is not available in that format on any of it's regular feeds I don't know if that is a result of some deal that Nokia struck with Podshow to provide a special stream in avi format just for Video Center or if it is transcoding the content it's delivering.

I have been using google reader with the microb browser. It works really well for audio podcasts. The built in flash player works perfectly for audio. I usually open a popout window, so I can browse more of the rss feeds I subscribe while listening. You can also download the file or listen to it in the frame. I haven't tried it with video yet though.

I am now checking out video center. Seems nice, but not immediately intuitive. Why doesn't it find videos on my SD card? I have finally figured out how to add feeds, though.

Geeze, geekbeat and textra are great if you like one commercial after another. Talk about payola sellouts...

Well, the format for the Catalog looks simple enough. Perhaps I'll start a 3rd party catalog.

This thing is so not ready yet. It won't let you select what player/program you want to use for streaming media just for already downloaded content and even then it won't pass the filename parameters to the program so it will actually start PLAYING the already downloaded file.
It seems locked in more to Kmplayer than anything else. They also should have done some basic "bug testing" to make sure the default streams/shows/channels they provided would actually PLAY on the device itself. If you're going to throw something like this out there for general tablet users, don't force them to hunt around trying to get it to work or installing other players or codecs.
Like Apple's iPod podcast/vidcast integration this stuff needs to "just work".
When compared to gpodder as a plain 'ol podcast client, it rocks. Too bad I use my N95 w/4GB micro-sd card as my podcast/vidcast client/player.
Everything else is either "broken" or hit or miss.

I really want this to work, I really do, but right now it's a damn tease after spending the last 30 minutes trying to tweak it to get it to "just work".

Remember, it's still a beta, but I believe the trick to get it to work with an external player is here:

BTW, does this thing need that latest Firmware-From_hell? 'cuz I still daren't upgrade my N800, I paid too much money for my SD cards...
