Photo was not easy to make useful, so I sent several, among which I think this gives the best vision of cut outs.
Flatbed scanner, alongside a ruler for calibration? Maybe the front is too dark for detail to show, but I've used the technique to get accurate engineering drawings from sample parts before.

Good idea, but the screen comes out totally black. No details visible.
I attached a small pic to my previous. I can measure everything I'd need from the full res version of it, even the corner radii which is hardest to guess and shows most if the dimension is wrong.
The office printer scanner is only 600dpi too, a decent scanner would be better.
I left the scanner lid open so the rest of the image is black, which helps the auto 'exposure' setting lift the detail out. Thats why every dust particle shows as a big white sparklie.
And don't try to put your cat in the scanner unless you've got some very thick gauntlets
