Not really, the 64bit stuff had to happen anyway because all new QCom SoCs are 64bit.

AOSP has been supported for a while, but most devices don't have AOSP builds available and so CM was just easier. That said CM is a little dead these days...

Let's look at it from the manufacturer's perspective, shall we?

Imagine you are Sony or whatever. You are about to dip your toe in the water with a new OS from an unknown company with a poor track record. Are you going to risk losing gigabucks by releasing it on your flagship device with top spec? Or are you going to try it on a low-spec, easily disposable device first and lose only megabucks?

    I don't mind.
In reality the manufacturer produced cheap phone that they were asked to. Don't you think that INOI manufactures that chinese phone? It is being made on some cheap third-grade small factory in China.
The key points were it would be almost the same as aqua fish, so nearly no modifications of software is needed.

Sony certainly knows how to get the most profit out of a device!

    Probably, yes.
I hope this means a HADK based on AOSP is also in the works!

If it was not for Alien Dalvik, I would have abandoned Sailfish OS as a daily driver quite a while ago. I am happy to see native replacements for Android apps in the future, but right now the user base is just not big enough to get major companies to provide their apps for Sailfish OS.

I am afraid these official builds for Sony Xperia will not attract new users if they come without support for Android apps.

Again I don't need a new phone over and over again!

I want official SFOS for FP2. Yes the community editions works well, thanks to the developers, but official version should be prioritized.

MAPS and dalvik thank you Jolla and Fairphone for not listening.

If FP2 is serious about enviroment trhey should listen!
If Jolla want to be the next big thing they should support FP2!

the press release is just another marketing thing and I will not be suprised if those experia devices never appear...

    Thank you back to work...
