    Unlock Bootloader on XA2:
    Go to https://developer.sony.com/develop/o...ck-bootloader/
    -select device -Xperia XA2-
    -enter IMEI
    -check the two acknowledge boxes
    -click 'submit'
    -note down 'Unlock Code'

-on device: enable OEM unlocking and USB debugging in Developer Options (Settings > About phone and tap seven times on Build number to enable developer options)
    -turn off device and unplug
-hold volume UP !!! and connect device via USB to enter fastboot mode (LED turns blue on device upper right corner)
    -check drivers and device manager
(I used latest adb and fastboot drivers from google https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/re...er_windows.zip
and minimal adb fastboot from https://androiddatahost.com/wp-conte...oot_v1.4.3.zip)
-open cmd in ADB install directory
-check if device is present with
    Code:
    fastboot devices
    -enter
    Code:
    fastboot -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0x<your unlock code>
    e.g.
    fastboot -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xF21B4F37FFFFFFF
    Done

Note: VOLUME UP activates fastboot and VOLUME DOWN enables flashmode and/or recovery mode

    btw.
O2 Germany sells Xperia XA2 for 199,-€ (no contract)

XA2 is newer. That qualifies as "better", does it not?

Oh, and it has a fingerprint scanner at the back as opposed to on the side.
    Yeah, that must be it.

For me it is the ~1/4 bigger battery and the slight impression Jolla silently abondonned HADK optimization on the Xperia X and is effectively working on XA2 since quite some time. But that is only a mix of gut feeling and propably false hope for a (more) bug free XA2.

There are some minor benefits of XA2 like larger battery I still went recently for X as for me it looks better and more elegant HW wise. XA2 is not thin at all, and has a curvy backside to cover that up. This way X felt in my hand as being a bit smaller which may be important for small handed people like me.

Well it seems like they might skip 2.2.2

Thanks for the reply J4ZZ, I have been unable to update the drivers. I have unzipped your files and used that folder to be the source of the update. Still no joy. I have experience of this as I have already done two xperia x's, but can go no further with the XA2. Attached is a screenshot of the device manager. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm afraid the XA2 has slower CPU. Not that I know if anyone would notice, because the X isn't that efficient in using all cores when needed. But basically XA2 is a cheaper model.

The CPU is more power efficient though with 14nm snapdragon 630 on XA2 vs 28nm snapdragon 650 on Xperia X.

    XA2 memory is at 1333MHz vs 933MHz on X.

Having it in hand now, i can not wait to have edge swipe on that thingy. The left and right edges feel like made with edge swipe in mind tbh. On Xperia X, only the glass is curved but on XA2 i get actual N9 feels! (- the size)

The XA2 is only marginally bigger than X, but 20g heavier, 170g vs 150g.
The screen size of 5.2" fitted on near same space than 5" Xperia X makes it look more advanced. Less bezel overall.

Ah, and connectivity options are more recent. Cat13 LTE (600Mbps) is possible on XA2 vs Cat6 (300Mbps) on X

I wrote you a pm with small instructions.
use "have disk" and point to the driver directly.

You could also try USBDeview from Nirsoft to remove old device drivers and start clean.
    Code:
    https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usbdeview.zip
    or
