Forgot to mention that Polar asks me to touch the device but yes it requires PIN code so perhaps it is a bluetooth thing then? In that case the bluetooth needs some working as well.
I built Neard which should support the NXP chip on these sony devices as well as having QtNFC support, but I haven't yet managed to get it to actually do something useful
