Not trying to avert the blame from me or fmtx-faker, but if you were able to bring up the control panel applet to enable the transmitter, FMTX Faker has done its job. :)

I´ve got several generic usb-usb micro generic cables here. I also have a generic 12V dc port - usb charger (cigarette lighter to usb) and my N900 charges with those, in the car and from my laptop....
