Re: Will N900 be ignored by Nokia?

I would really like to see the iPhone 3GS commercial saying "Still no multitasking!" ;)

Still, on non-marketing level, I feel Nokia has been pretty open about this not being a "full package" and...

Re: Will N900 be ignored by Nokia?

You do understand that people can create an endless list of enchantments? Did you go through that list of 37 bugs? If I would get to choose 37 improvements that they did for M5, I don't think it...

Re: Should i replace my N900 with Iphone 4G when it comes out?

Well, you posted on N900 forum so here goes...

I would definitely not buy a phone from Apple unless 4G gets pretty much total makeover. So far Apple has shown pretty small ability for improvement....

Re: Ovi Maps goes free for premium content (no N900 *yet*)

People really should calm down. I have seen no indication that Nokia has abandoned N900 yet. It simply wasn't on the list like million other Nokia phones and engadget is hardly "reliable source".

Re: Warning - Exploit found, keep N900 to yourself until it's fixed!

Funny thing is we probably wouldn't even be having this conversation if Nokia had done ROT-13 on those.

On the other hand somebody might now be thinking their passwords are safe.

Re: Querying external websites in FREE apps

If you do request access, I would suggest spending some time formulating the question. Asking "Can I rip your website?" vs. something like "I really like your website. I would like to offer this...

Re: Maemo 5 PR1.1 released today (January 14)

Quite a list of fixes. Shows that first focusing on fixing and optimizing was the right choice. I haven't had any reboots etc. but the list does address several smaller annoyances.

Especially...

Re: Nokia n900 serious bug

You mean you can brick yourself by simply using Nokia stulys?

Surely reflashing will help?

NOKIA CES - Technology and Emerging Countries

I just finished watching the Nokia CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo presentation on CES. It was not about maemo or even strongly related, but still very interesting and enlightening.

This was about the...

Re: Does the Nokia N900 really have so many problems?

When reading these forums I often feel that I am the only one without any problems. No creaking frame, no reboots (ridiculously stabile actually), FM transmitter seems lot better than my last...

Re: why does the fm transmiter suck soo bad

Yeah, this was what I was trying to refer to earlier about the chip range. Did a bit of searching and found this about the N900 FM radio transmitter...

Re: why does the fm transmiter suck soo bad

Speak for yourself, I love my FM transmitter. Works like charm, audio quality is lot better than the separate audio jack model I had before. Listening to music in car is really easy now.

It is a...

Re: when is the new Maemo 5 App store open

My personal guess is that there are two options:

1) Ovi store for N900 opens with the next firmware update, which I would think happens in 1-2 weeks. This I think is the more likely one.

2) Ovi...

Re: Suggestion: Rename X Terminal to just Terminal

Started thinking about removing the xterm icon and for me it would be acceptable to not have it out of the box. I definitely understand the reasoning of extra icon that most users will have no use.

Re: N900 - swapping Z and Y keys physically for QWERTZ keyboard

There is the SW side and the HW side. SW side is pretty easy, I think this thread (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=35931) should help.

On the HW side, I would think that the keyboard...

Re: Odd behaviour of right click on N900 - is it just my device?

The difference is that when you get only 3 options you aren't actually pressing on the link. This happens when you press anywhere else on the page.

Hitting small links and holding can be hard...

Re: Drop Test: N900

Real sorry to hear that. However if it has been completely under water there is no certain way to fully fix it besides replacing everything. Even tiny amount of corrosion on components that currently...

Re: Clarification sought : using the N900 as a BT modem from a Windows laptop ?...

I've had no problems with Linux, but for some reason the Windows bluetooth connection doesn't work as easily.

With the standard XP bluetooth setup, the connection always stalls at the end.

For...

Thumbs up Re: Drop Test N900

One of the good things about Nokia phones is they are usually amazingly durable. I've been using Nokia phones for well over 10 years (+ got one tablet) and never broken a single one (Yeah I know it...

Re: I am right handed and the usb slot is on the wrong side

I guess I am the only one who likes this setup then. I'm currently writing this with USB plugged and I really like the fact cord goes outwards on the supporting hand side. Balancing is easy and the...
