This does sound like a wifi driver problem, but my wifi got faster when I switched to titan's kernel; I think there were some driver improvements in 2.6.28.10.

I suspect it has to do with power...

Yeah.. i agree. The difficult thing is to know what is good for your device and that is something only you can discover. It's a trial n error thing. I too feel there is an lack of documentation...

for 600-810 it uses the same lower DSP voltage as for 550.
for >=850 is uses the max. voltage with 500MHz.
