Re: [ELECTIONS] Board announces HFC elections

It would be a waste to lose a good moderator just because of some conflict of interests, imo; not moderating threads in the Community section is a good tradeoff.

Re: Phone starts with lock code

Oh, and if your USB port isn't working, you can also load it from an unconfigured U-Boot, but you should ask someone more experienced how to do that.

Re: Phone starts with lock code

You could boot from RescueOS and read CAL from there, it's not that hard.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

To be fair, CSSU-thumb recompiles as Thumb2 quite a huge number of system binaries; most of the speedup comes from the better compiler, though, rather than the more efficient ISA.

Re: Miroroot script to safely free space on rootfs

The word "safely" is been thrown around way too much - plenty of things can fail, with this: return codes aren't checked, especially before and after the "rm" part; what happens if /home is full, and...

Re: [ELECTIONS] Board announces HFC elections

I don't think that this has been spread around enough; will it be written somewhere, by the time the election comes?

Re: [ELECTIONS] Board announces HFC elections

I'm not entirely sure we need some kind of balance between fremantle users and harmattan users; while the community council does indeed speak for the community, the HiFo business is strictly...

Re: CCSU-stable installation and stuff

CSSU stable is perfectly installable:
1. Configure a mirror for the "community" repo, but don't follow any prompts regarding the update of packages
2-ε. Configure a mirror for the "extras" repo, to...

Re: Announce: USB Mode (easy switch to USB host mode)

You probably don't want to do peripheral without charging, keeping musb_core alive eats a flat 80mA.

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v51 in Extras-Devel

A failing battery can cause brownouts, and they can eventually cause crashes that make the N900 reboot - try changing batteries to see if it helps.

Re: [Announce] CSSU Testing thread

You should wait for the matching CSSU-thumb update, it should arrive shortly.

Re: libicd-network-usb apparently tries dhcp -- and fails

You should find your connection in Settings->Network connections, there you should disable DHCP and add your own settings; remove the configuration from /etc/network/interfaces, it's not used by ICD2.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

Performance is also a matter of compiler, though - the default toolchain uses gcc4.2, which is fairly ancient compared to cssu-thumb's toolchain which uses gcc4.7-linaro. Granted, using gcc4.7-linaro...

Re: [Announce] Yappari - A WhatsApp client for the N900 ONLY - v0.0.25

I'm getting no luck in connecting to the server while on my university's wifi network, while people with the official apps can connect just fine - could you look into it? AFAIK the only open ports...

Re: [Announce] Yappari - A WhatsApp client for the N900 ONLY - v0.0.23

I've noticed a lot of problems when moving between connections - it works flawlessly when disconnecting and then reconnecting to a different connection.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

IIRC apt-get doesn't use the cache on homefs by default, so maybe that's the cause.

Re: [Announce] Yappari - A WhatsApp client for the N900 ONLY - v0.0.21

Do you know why my shift+fn+<key> combinations don't work inside of the chat input box? Can it be made to work?

Will you eventually add searchable contacts, like in the Conversations app?

Re: [Announce] Yappari - A WhatsApp client for the N900 ONLY - v0.0.21

Could it be possible, eventually, to make Yappari just another Conversations IM protocol?
