Re: BackTrack 5 (arm) released

I was going to try BackTrack on N900, but... I downloaded the arm version from BackTrack site, unzipped and the file is 5 GB and cannot copy it to N900, due to FAT32 limitations!
I guess the file linked in the first post was a "reduced" (???) version, but know Megaupload is closed. Is there a mirror?

Create an EXT3 partition to hold the image, no such limitations.

Re: BackTrack 5 (arm) released

I found this solution to resize the size of the img file:
http://zitstif.no-ip.org/?p=484
but... I haven't tried it yet.

Actually, it's not explained what is actually done to resize the image. :o

gunzip bt5.img.gz

mv bt5.img bt5.old.img

dd if=/dev/zero of=bt5.img bs=4k count=900000
mke2fs -F -i 8192 bt5.img

mkdir bt5old bt5new
mount -o loop bt5.old.img bt5old
mount -o loop bt5.img bt5new
cd bt5old
cp -rp * ../bt5new
that little script from the link is creating a new file based filesystem (of 3.6 GB = 900000 x 4KB), by creating an empty file with the right size and then converting it to a FAT filesystem.

It continues by mounting both old and new files and copying all files from the old file(filesystem) to the newly, smaller created one.

So it seems the old file/filesystem was initially created too big for the total size of the files it had to contain. No data is lost!

just for your info :)

Post #83 and post #86 is all you need I believe.

I know there were 2 options of VNC solution, on one keyboard was fixed. It's been awhile though, and actually I am not interested to pick this up because this version of BT has almost no support at all.

But, it will work with nokia e90? It has the same WLAN card:
nokia n900 : Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, DLNA
nokia e90 : Wi-Fi 802.11b/g
Because I heard that nokia e900's Wlan card works with backtrack.
