I named my n800 Sleipnir (my Zodiac 2 is Hugin and the backup Z is Munin, so I thought I'd continue the theme).
In retrospect, "Slider" is perhaps not the best name for a fragile mobile device...

Most stylus tips are fairly soft (to help avoid screen scratches). This means that it's easy for a tiny grit particle to become embedded and cause problems. Any chance that could have happened?

Have you gotten root access? Otherwise you won't be able to see the file in xterm.
I got rid of pwsafe on my n800 (OS2008) last week as described in the thread I cited above.
