Do you have Filebox or similar installed on your N900, only then will you be able to edit the Qtlockscreen.ini file. If not, do so and report back, help is out there!

sudo gainroot

tail -f /proc/kmsg

needless to say iam a noob, you mentioned winSCP, i have installed it but its asking for host name, server address etc. i don't have any of these so wot do I do next? any assistance...

kudos for the post, reached section 4 got the desired results so far, but @ sec 4.3 i don't get the same text in my box, see attached screenshot, any assistance required
