No they are not. :(
IMs are very different. I can only send those to skype users. I can send SMSes (actual SMSes) to any phone provided I have Skype Credit.

Canola does not respond to keystrokes?
Hey guys.
Something strange here with Canola 2. Doesn't seem to accept keyboard input for some odd reason.
