Re: ~7 h battery live, who get's less?
I think there's probably more to this than meets the eye. Just because you're underground and the phone radio is offline, it doesn't mean it's not draining any power. In fact, I suspect that...

Re: [How To] Have up to 9 home screens on N900 !
Many thanks, matan. I now have 9 desktops. I just wish we could have them in a 3x3 grid, but this is a good start.
I would definitely recommend that anyone who wishes to do this follows matan's...

Re: N900 Anti-theft Project
You are correct, to a certain extent, and that is certainly an option. However, once the data is safe from prying eyes, disabling the phone is akin to burning bridges in that it severely diminishes...

Re: Nokia N900 Counter-Arguments for Complaints
To an extent, you are correct. However, as you may well be aware, there are aspects of the device which the community cannot control. Take PR1.2, for example - had the community been able to create...

Re: N900 Anti-theft Project
Just a quick post to let everyone know I am still here and working on this.
I am currently in the process of putting together a flow diagram of the solution as I see it. I will post it here for...

Re: 3D Roller Coaster Rush Jurassic....
Last I checked the Ovi store update was supposed to be up and running on Thursday the 27th of May to coincide with people upgrading to 1.2. Needless to say that didn't happen, so I wouldn't hold my...

Re: Nokia N900 Counter-Arguments for Complaints
I haven't read the thread, but I do consider the lack of flash 10.1 (should it prove true) inexcusable if they insist on calling this a "mobile computer with phone capabilities".
I'm not saying...

Re: N900 Anti-theft Project
I am not hugely worried about disabling the device except as a last resort, as you can already add your device to an international blacklist which means that it won't be admitted onto most networks....

Re: N900 Anti-theft Project
Thanks for that great idea. Only question is what happens if the new sim is PAYG with no credit, but we can think about that.
I'm not sure the rebooting is a good idea. I'm sure I read reports...

Re: N900 Anti-theft Project
I'm not sure I can, but I will most certainly try.
There may well be ways to create a simple graphical interface for this or implement simpler scripts which contain the commands.
I.e:...

N900 Anti-theft Project
I don't know about you, but the more I use my N900 the more important it becomes to me and the more I dread the thought of it being lost or stolen. Not only is it an expensive bit of kit, it also...

Re: Flash video playback problems with pr 1.2
I'm just wondering if theres a way to make the player think that it has less bandwidth than it actually does, maybe through an app. Therefore it would send a lower bitrate stream and the N900s...

Re: Stolen/lost n900
Really glad you got your baby back.
I still think we need to think about putting together a security (anti-theft/loss) suite for the N900.
Maybe a daemon which checks a webserver for an...

Re: Flash video playback problems with pr 1.2
I can confirm that I have similar issues with iplayer on my (2005) desktop and laptop computers. I think its to do with the variable bitrate being upped because of my fast broadband, but the cpus on...
