Re: anyone trade their n810 for ipod touch
I have the N800 (not N810, which I wouldn't buy because I detest thumbboards, not to mention sliders) and an iPod Touch. In my opinion, the Touch is far superior for web browsing. Double-tapping on...

Re: WHY search is not used
I often find that I get too many results, and I don't have the time or the patience to look through them all to find the one or two (it's usually no more than that) that answer(s) my query. Maybe I'm...

Re: Screen protector convert!
I've had my N800 since early February, with no problems. I don't use a screen protector. I use the stylus only when I really have to. Not a helpful answer to your question, I know, but it suggests...

Re: BoxWave in Ireland?
I got my official Nokia case from Expansys UK. The cost was horrific (nearly €50 including postage to France) but it's an excellent case. You don't have to take the tablet out of the case in order to...

Ordinarily, I'd be delighted to have an excuse to revisit La Rochelle but last Friday I went to Bordeaux for the day to catch a lunchtime concert by the Trio Mephista...

Re: Nokia vs Asus Eee
I wouldn't consider the Eee[k!] because of its undersized keyboard. I have two full-sized Bluetooth keyboards (one folding, one rigid) that I use with the N800. I would have bought the Foleo if...

Re: n800 vs. iPod Touch vs. Dell Axim X5
On the N800, you shouldn't need to zoom on every site. I set the minimum font size to 18 and I rarely use the zoom controls at all. On the touch, you probably will need to zoom on every site as...

Re: Word processing in our modern age...
Sorry to hear that; it works for me. Maybe I've just been lucky in my choice of HTML docs.
I wouldn't expect it to make any difference, but I generally strip out styles, since they won't be...

Re: Word processing in our modern age...
Make a copy of your HTML file and give it the "double" extension ".note.html". I should now open in Notes.
I stress the importance of making a copy rather than renaming. You're going to need to...

Re: So will you buy the N8100?
I'm not going to buy anything with a thumbboard, and a sliding thumbboard at that. It looks like a sodding phone.
Can't wait to try the new OS on my N800, though.

Re: Word processing in our modern age...
My first thought was that LyX isn't really suitable for the small screen of the internet tablet, because it sits on top of LaTeX, which is a heavy duty typesettng/layout package and, as I've said...

Re: Word processing in our modern age...
I completely agree. Writing is one of the things for which the Internet Tablet (with its small screen) is most suited.
I meant to say in previous post that Notes seems to be quite good at...

Re: Word processing in our modern age...
Yes, but it uses only a very small subset of HTML. Despite the limitations, I find it very usable; in fact, I've come to like it a lot.
I agree about SciTE. I didn't get around to reinstalling it...

Re: Help disassembling the n800 power charger
Accessories? I don't call it an accessory if it comes packaged with the device, and you need it in order to get the device to work. However, they're not expensive to replace. Unfortunately, the UK...

Re: Official Nokia N800 Case
I just got mine yesterday. The price (nearly €44 plus delivery from Expansys) left kind of a bad taste in my mouth but I like the way the cover (a) doesn't add much bulk or weight and (b) protects...

Anyway,...
