Yeah I am having this problem , does the same on either emc or firmware file , just stops for no reason! same error messege
versions are fine,
does anyone have an idea on this (currently sitting on a non working n900 and its my only phone lol!)

First in a good n900 back up your rootfs, open the XT:
root
dd if = / dev/mtd5 of = output files (for example/home/user/MyDocs/rootfs.img)
Then put the backup good rootfs mirror brush to bad machine, :
Flasher-3.5-r rootfs.img -f
If you don't succeed, then brush again 36 weeks global version of the rootfs. Bin
flasher-3.5.exe -F D:\syssoft\N900-36.bin -f -R

that happened with me once
how to solve :
just download and flash pr1.2 rootfs image
and then flash pr1.3 (-1)
everything should go well
