Initially, I was also unable to sync over wireless. Coincidentally, I upgraded the wireless router and now I can sync over wireless.

Thanks! I unchecked "Backup" (in the Hotsync settings on the PC side) and now the sync runs to completion without errors.

What I thought I was trying to backup with the "Backup" setting was any system stuff such as Prefs and Shortcuts.

Maybe this is only a short-term issue until Access Company releases the GVM for Maemo 5.

BTW, I'm running the following apps under the GVM on my N900 without any visible problems:
- SplashShopper trial
- Tide Tool
- Sol Free

I would really like to test MegaClock, but it refuses to install.

1. If not already installed, install rootsh. This link has an install button if opened in the N900 browser http://maemo.org/downloads/product/Maemo5/rootsh/

4. Check your email and you fill find a link to the download site, open this link.

5. You will be asked to agree to a license agreement then provided a download link for the file garnet-vm_1.0.4b_ITOS2008_armel.deb. Download this file to your N900 remembering where you put it. Placing it in the N900 folder is an easy place to remember.

6. Open the X-Terminal application.

7. Type sudo gainroot [Enter] in X-Terminal

8. Type cd MyDocs [Enter] in X-terminal (substitute any other folder you saved garnet-vm_1.0.4b_ITOS2008_armel.deb to for MyDocs).

9. Type dpkg -i garnet-vm_1.0.4b_ITOS2008_armel.deb [Enter] in X-Terminal.

10. Type exit [Enter] in X-Terminal. (This exits the root shell)

11. Type exit [Enter] in X-Terminal. (This closes X-Terminal)

12. You now have an icon for Garnet VM in the second page of application icons.
Forgive me if I am being stupid, but this isnt working for me

I get to step 7 and have on my screen

/home/user #

Then if I type

cd Documents

I get message

/home/user # cd documents
/bin/sh: cd: cant cd to documents
/home/user #

If I go into File Manager in my n900, I have 2 directories, Jimmy and Memory Card.
I have tried downloading the .deb file to directory Jimmy and typing
cd Jimmy in X-Terminal, but get same message.

I have also typed
cd Jimmy/documents
and
cd /home/user # /Jimmy
and
cd /home/user/Jimmy

Please help

"Jimmy" is actually MyDocs -- /home/user/MyDocs

Underneath that, the various directories are:
Audio clips -- /home/user/MyDocs/.sounds
Camera -- /home/user/MyDocs/DCIM
Documents -- /home/user/MyDocs/.documents
Images -- /home/user/MyDocs/.images
Video clips -- /home/user/MyDocs/.videos

I believe "Memory Card" is located at /media/mmc1, but I'm not completely sure as I don't have one installed.

I'm not the one that is having problems.

You might want to re-send that PM to jscamh.

It should be

cd /home/user/MyDocs/.documents

I did not follow the thread, but you have to spell the complete path in order to cd there.

Or another easier way to do, dl to a folder you know, then cd there and run the .deb; for example
dl to /media/mmc1
and cd /media/mmc1
ls to show it is there
and type the file name to execuate the .deb

post back if question

Specifically, when I try to install MegaClock.prc in the Garnet VM, the error message is:

"Failed to install MegaClock.prc (err=0x30060209)"

Does anyone know what that error code means?

Thanks.
