i have had a read about the comments about the res but the desktop is at a high res with widgets and it scrolls smooth and fine. but EVERYTHING else seems to be unoptimized
icons scroll quite nicley but photo gallery, album view, conversations are bit jerky. Also thing that i hate is that only photo gallery scrolling functions as it should everywhere=if list is moving and you tap screen it STOPS not freaking selects and run. This happens all the other places and because of that i accidntally run programs.

And of us who have noticed this performance quirk, who is going to create a solution by coding or testing? Because it makes no sense to beef about this on an open platform where we control its direction as much as the company that seeded the device and platform to us.

ive said this before an ill say it again. this is nokias fault. the desktop has a huge resolution with shortcuts and widgets. THAT runs fine with no lag at all. everything else is choppy and unoptimised.

That doesn't fix the issue. Blame shifting didn't work in Eden for Adam, and it can't work for us here. Either we identify the issue(s) and offer solutions, or leave Nokia to magically invent a solution that still won't get them enough praise.

Classic example of arbitrary Nokia decision making. Couldn't just fallback to the no brainer of tagging with lat/lon if network isn't accessible, could you Nokia?

Great thread, just read it through! Very good points about the technology and tradeoffs. Still my biggest issue is that almost everything scrolls badly. Browser in portrait mode is otherwise very fast & nice, but Vsync should be enabled, now the text is unreadable while scrolling (framerate is fine!). Could Vsync be hacked to be enabled somehow? I can't imagine that it would drop the framerate, Vsync doesn't need processing power.

Even with the current tradeoffs with transition speed etc the music still gets interrupted sometimes (one of the worst things seems to be if you have Jabber enabled for Facebook with a lot of contacts). Music should never be interrupted. Could the process priorities be changed somehow (safely) to force this?
